Green apple and stony hints on the nose followed by zesty lime notes of intense citrus and grapefruit wrapped in well balanced, keen acidity with assertive minerality through the mid-palate to a lingering close.
Lively and medium-bodied with concentrated plum and berry flavours, mineral and leather notes, grippy tannins and fresh on the juicy finish. A great match with lamb, but fresh enough to pair with seafood stew. Luis Pato is commonly considered to be the country’s strongest advocate for the Baga grape which, in addition to making delicious red wines, is used to produce tasty red sparkling wines with a high cool factor.
The in-your-face aromatics signal its Marlborough origins, along with characteristic gooseberry, elderflower and lemon-and-lime zestiness on both nose and palate. The medium-body weight and rich texture, balanced by lip-smacking acidity, lead to a mineral finish. Delightful with a salad course.
The white oak for this unique Icewine bottling comes from a forest just north of Brantford, Ont. The nose is enthralling for its range of sweet tropical fruits, sweet citrus rind, peach, apricot and vanilla/caramel notes. It’s super-charged honey sweet and delivers rich apricot, peach compote, pineapple and poached pear that’s succulent and unctuous on the palate but balanced somewhat by fairly decent acidity.
Somewhat rare varietal. Clear very-deep purplish garnet. Aromas of raisins, dates, light molasses and coffee. Full-bodied with all the fruit of a warm year in the south of France. Ripe raspberry and cranberry flavours precede a tannic dry finish. Ready now. Good value.
This organic offering shows a range of blackberries, cherries, currants and spice on the nose. It’s a substantive wine on the nose with a thick broth of plums, cassis and currants with spicy wood nuances through the finish.
Made with fruit from Naramata and Oliver, with a portion aged in neutral oak. Vibrant rose petal with some orange blossom nose before a floral rose prominent palate with generous though not viscose mouthfeel before hints of ginger and lingering spice in the finish. Think lightly spiced Asian fare.
