Pale ruby, orange rim. Typical nose of tar and red flowers, only hints of oak. Rather full-bodied but not as much as Nebbiolo can sometimes be, with firm and tight but very finely grained tannins. Compact finish. It should become more expressive over time.
Hazy pale golden, lovely floral quality with notes of coriander and orange peel; good depth and complexity finishing dry and clean, readying you for the next quaff.
Made from the Roviello grape, a rare and almost extinct variety in Campania. Golden straw in colour with an earthy-minerally nose topped by a floral note; full-bodied and dry with grapefruit and musk-melon flavours and great length.
New-World wine? Fairview Cellar was established in 1693. That's right — Columbus era. This is a blend of Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Petit Syrah, Carignan, Cinsault from Paarl, aged in tanks and barrels. Ripe, juicy and smooth, this medium- bodied, easy-drinking red carries smoked meats, cherries and stewed cassis to a short, clipped finish. There's a driving level of VA and some reduction brewing underneath the surface of this screw-capped wine which detract. That said, partnership with smoky beef ribs will mitigate.
Boldly aromatic from the get-go, bursting with ample peach and honeysuckle on the nose. The round, creamy texture resulted from 20% barrel fermentation in old oak barrels, balanced well by firm acidity and lush stone fruits and citrus. Finishes with refreshing minerality. Hard to have one last sip.
Clear, medium-deep lemon-peel yellow. Light nose of lemon meringue pie and lime. Definitely an old-world Chardonnay, well-balanced and complex, tasting of ripe apples and vanilla from wood maturation. Has another year or 2 left in it.
Super fresh, with bright plum, green apple, white peach and chamomile notes, a refreshing minerality and acidity, and mouth-watering finish. Perfect with oysters, shellfish and spicy cuisine.
