Full ruby. Distinguished, pure nose of red fruits with a floral touch. Balanced on the palate, fine tannins, discreet acidity and adequate fruit. Long finish. Overall an elegant wine that drinks well now and for the next 8 to 10 years.
Combines Old World Corvina and Argentina’s signature Malbec with the Ripasso method to create a New World wine with plenty of Old World character. Nose shows complex developed fruit attractively dusted with cinnamon. Dark plum and cherry flavours come in a velvety texture backed by plush tannins, dark chocolate and discreet oak, finishing with a dry tannic kick.
A much-different expression of savvy with aromas of sweet grass, fresh-cut hay, grapefruit, citrus, passion fruit and spice. It’s juicy and round on the palate with ripe pear, citrus and spice notes. More elegant than fresh.
Biodynamic methods since 2009, this red blend is 60% Pinot Noir, 30% Poulsard and 10% Trousseau, and made with only indigenous yeast and no new barrels. Fresh floral, herbal and cherry aromas. Great tension and grip on the palate, supported by fine tannins along with savoury and mineral from start to lingering finish.
In France’s Languedoc-Roussillon region is an appellation called Corbières where they make bargain-priced red wines from Carignan, Syrah and Grenache. Château du Grand Caumont Cuvée Tradition Corbières 2014 is dense purple-black in colour — a testament to its richly extracted fruit flavours. It shows a spicy, herbal nose of blackberries. Medium-bodied and dry, it’s got a savoury taste of warm blackberries tinged with herbs and a lively acidic finish. Great value here.
This red blend from Lisbon is a blend of Touriga Nacional, Syrah and Tinta Roriz. Fresh, juicy and easy drinking, there is plum, cherry, cassis, violets and black pepper. Solid length and tailored for grilled sausages or roast pork loin.
Bright ruby with alluring aromas of cherry and spice. Refined and very juicy with elegant tannins and a penetrating quality to the red berry and mineral flavours. Very well done.
