This old-vine Malbec has a wow nose of rich currants, plums, anise with elegant spice notes, minerals and swirling earthy/savoury accents. It still needs a bit of time to integrate all those moving parts in the mouth, but shows depth of fruit, concentration and plenty of spicy/savoury goodness through a finessed finish.
Deep ruby in colour with a cedar, blackcurrant and plum nose, firmly structured, spicy, savoury fruit with mellow tannins. Finishes with toasty oak. A good buy at the price.
Bright ruby. Spicy nose with inviting notes of red berries and dark chocolate. Medium-bodied, crisp fruity taste, soft tannins, little or no oak. Delicious now for its fruit; there is no need to wait.
Here is a great introduction to the world of Grüner that will not break the bank. It is light yellow with a green tinge, and the bouquet of honey, white pepper, grapefruit, flowers and green pepper meet up with a spicy and somewhat oily palate. Nonetheless, there is still enough acidity to backstop the finale.
Catena’s staple Malbec is a saturated-purple/cherry wine that offers excellent concentration and length. Its personality is somewhat overripe with raisins, blueberries, blackberries and black cherries meshing with licorice, violets and cocoa. Drink it over the next 5 to 7 years.
Infused with flavours of the increasingly fashionable Haskap berry, this original spirit reveals scents of juniper and red berry fruit with flavour more reminiscent of blackcurrant in the mouth. There is a touch of berry sweetness and texture akin to gritty pomace, with warming, agreeably fiery spirit on the finish.
A fresh white blend of Viura with a touch of Malvasia. Lemon yellow in colour with an oaky, spicy, stone-fruit nose. Full-bodied, waxy, white peach, pear and citrus flavours. Good value.
