Medium gold with an inviting nose of pears, apples and burnt sugar. Full-bodied, at the apex of maturity as the melon and white peach flavours start to become more austere and complex. The long finish is dry with an interesting trace of bitterness. Excellent with a Waldorf salad.
Dense purple-ruby in colour with an intense bouquet of cedar and blackcurrants; full-bodied, dry and firmly structured, it offers firmly structured flavours of plums and blackcurrants with evident tannins. Hold 3–5 years.
A great price for this Mediterranean blend of primarily Grenache Blanc and Vermentino with hints of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. Medium body; there is green apple, peach, lemon, honey and white flowers in play. Moderate acidity and fine length.
Ruby purplish. Lots of sweet red fruits on the new-world style nose. Silky tannins, rich and supple, it happily fills the mouth. Made of Malbec at 60% plus 30% Merlot and 10% Cab Sauv. The high proportion of Malbec explains the different style. Drink or hold.
This Sonoma Coast offering shows an attractive nose of lemon, baked apple, ripe pear, butter, vanilla and sweet barrel spices. It’s open-knit on the palate with wonderful texture and a juicy core of creamy pear, apple, peach and elegant oak spices all lifted by zesty citrus notes on the finish. Lovely Chardonnay.
The grapes for the wine were sourced from the Fox Croft Vineyard, one of the top 3 for Cabernet Franc in the Niagara Peninsula. The dark cherry colour heralds a bouquet of cassis, smoke, violets, graphite, herbs and vanilla. Medium- to full-body, there is pronounced acidity and tannins, ensuring a long life ahead. Hold it until 2013 and then enjoy it until 2020.
A hint of pale salmon in the glass. Lifted notes of orchard and stone fruits followed by a fresh, juicy entry of apple, pear, peach and lychee with a touch of minerality in the finish.
