Shows amazing depth, richness and concentration with a dark and savoury character, layers of blackberry, blueberry and wild berry fruit that take on a smoky, meaty, gamy edge with hints of bacon fat. Quite full with a mouth-coating and delicious complexity and a long, rich finish that goes on and on. Needs a big hunk of red meat.
100% Negroamaro, an indigenous variety from the area. Notes of candied, dried black fruits give its nose an impression of warmth. Fully ripe, tame acidity, round and supple middle palate. A nice glass of sunshine at an attractive price.
Deep purple colour; cedary, blackberry nose with vanilla-oak notes. Medium-bodied, dry, creamy black berry and plum flavours with fresh acidity; well-balanced and lively on the palate with surprising elegance and length for a hybrid. Lovely mouthfeel.
Very fragrant and intense, with a nice blend of fruitcake, toasted/caramelized nuts, orange zest, toffee and dried flowers. Very supple and rich in style, with layers of candied citrus fruit (orange-flavoured milk chocolate comes to mind), cinnamon and toasted nuts. The long, warm finish is given added complexity by traces of buckwheat honey and subtle orange/lemon zest suggestions.
Dense purple-black in colour with a lively bouquet of blackcurrant and mulberry; medium to full-bodied, rich and spicy sweet blackcurrant and plum flavours.
Jordan Mills, an Advanced Cicerone, brewer and owner of Markham’s Rouge River is quietly making some of the best sour ales and hoppy beers in the country. His Barrel Aged Apricot Sour was aged in steel and oak for 11 months and fermented with Rouge’s house sour culture. This golden sour ale has a fresh apricot aroma and flavour and racy acidity with a dry mineral finish and a touch of vanilla from the oak barrels. Pair with vanilla ice cream with peach puree for an easy dessert.
Bottled under screw cap, this pale gold sherry opens with pungent nutty almond aromas. Classic, bone dry Fino nutty character persists on the fairly light palate with hints of green fruit and subtle oaky/caramel notes on the finish.
