Pale yellow. Delicate nose, elegant citrus and mineral notes. Off-dry but nonetheless refreshing thanks to its energetic acidity. Light body; subtle apple taste in the light finish. Ready to drink and delicious with sole meunière.
Fragrant floral and very pure citrus scents shift to clean green apple fruit flavours and a bright, crisp finish. Understated, food-friendly wine showing elegant simplicity.
Clear pale silvery yellow. Aromas of lime juice and pineapple with a bit of “cat’s pee” (sorry, but it’s true). Tastes of lemon and lime, also green mango, with intense acidity. Versatile food wine: the acidity can complement the bitterness of green veggies like asparagus or bell peppers, or contrast with and cut the oil of fish like salmon or mackerel. Will mellow and open up a bit with another year or two.
Consistent year over year, and the 2014 is no different. This Barbera, from the hillsides of Langhe and Monferrato, brings black cherry, anise, worked leather and black raspberry across a fleshy, cured-meats and oak-framed medium body. Scrubby herbs, pipe tobacco and brisk spicing liven the smooth palate, while 6 months in oak barrels and Slavonian casks defines it. An approachable and interesting red for drinking now, especially with wild mushroom risotto or boar pappardelle.
This is an interesting blend of l’Acadie and Frontenac Gris, a mutation of the red Frontenac grape. Discernable Nova Scotia aromatic floral and fresh fruit scents appear on the palate as succulent apricot and green fruit with good mineral grip and lingering apricot fruitiness on the off dry finish. Has some charm.
A wine of great charm and elegance for the price. Very pale lime in colour, it has an intense nose of lavender and orange; light- to medium-bodied on the palate, it’s dry and perfumed with lychee and melon flavours. Great value
This is a delicious blend of 48% Shiraz, 23% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Merlot. It offers enticing flavours of pepper, plum, cassis, roasted peanuts, cocoa, roasted herbs, vanilla and incense. There is richness on the palate before the juicy acid, and round tannins fill in the finale. Very versatile as a food wine!
