It’s deep ruby-purple in colour with an expressive bouquet of blackcurrants, toasty oak and herbs with a floral grace note. It’s full and generous on the palate, well structured with nicely integrated oak.
Ruby/garnet. Red fruits and green pepper on the rather shy nose. Firm and full in the mouth, its compact body shows a 5 to 7 years aging potential. Will improve and become more complex if you’re patient.
Medicinal-hued cherry, anise and nubuck open this Clare Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, permeated with a subtle mineral-salts note and ample scrubby grass and herbs. A slicked palate is buffered by moderate, lightly tuggy tannins and raised with acidity to the potent anise finish. A bit elbows-and-knees at this young phase, best paired with herbed lamb kabobs.
The Demets family has been growing vines in Gyé-sur-Seine in the heart of the Côte des Bar since the 1950s. In the early 1970s they started to think of releasing their own wines, which was a dream realized in 1987, their first vintage. Entirely Pinot Noir, this spent 2 years on the lees and has 9 g/l dosage. Floral red currant and cherry fills this expansive and generous fizz, based on a lightly toasty palate, and seasoned with wild blackberry and hawthorne. The texture is a tad rustic, calling out for pairing with lighter pork or duck dishes.
A 50/50 blend of Shiraz and Merlot (Shy-mer) that features a ruby-purplish colour, a nose of nice red fruits, slightly perfumed with only a touch of toasted, spicy oak. Full-bodied, finely grained tannins are really nice on the palate. The finish is firm and balanced.
Simply divine. Straw-coloured with a rich bouquet of brioche, honey-white blossoms and apple with a thread of minerality; medium-bodied, dry, elegant and perfectly balanced with great length. A real thoroughbred.
Golden yellow. Ripe fruits, hinting towards tropical with only a slight mineral edge. Delicately acidic, it remains fresh, light and fully dry. Almost tannic in the tight finish. Very good.
