Dark yellow with amber tint. Heavily malted nose with aromas of salted dark caramel and spices. Full bodied, intense taste of torrefied malt and hops. There is a nice bitterness in the aftertaste. A creation of "Les 2 Frères" microbrewery.
Dense purple-black in colour showing a bouquet of sandalwood and blackberries; full-bodied with concentrated flavours of black plum with creamy oak and tannins that give the wine structure.
Light ruby in colour; earthy, raspberry and dried tea-leaf nose; medium-bodied, candied raspberry flavour with a note of smoky oak, lively acidity and a warm alcoholic finish.
Mainly estate-grown Merlot, with equal parts of 19% Pinot Gris and Malbec, yields vibrant rhubarb and red fruit on top followed by a medium-weight, fruit-driven palate of juicy strawberry, melon and some floral notes with moderate acidity through a fresh finish.
This carries all of Semillon's waxy heft and sheen, but with a stony, citrus-lined, edgy profile that talks of its place. This is from Henk Laing's Trekpoort farm on Skurfberg Mountain, within the Citrusdal Mountains (WO Citrusdalberg). These are now 50+ year-old bush vines, almost 1 m tall, planted on red sand and clay in between rooibos, fynbos and apricot trees. After whole bunch pressing, this fermented in stainless before 6 months in neutral, large format French oak. Vibrant stone fruit — nectarine, peach, apricot peel — is scented with tropical melon, pineapple, guava, all wrapped around a waxen, expansive core, and framed with gentle wood spicing. Structural and generous, but held to a 13.5 degree declaration, this young wine well suits protein pairings now, or a couple years' rest in the cellar.
Up-front black fruit with cherry and plum, along with very good balance of fruit and acidity on a fairly full-bodied palate, with stony hints and a pleasing savoury edge.
Pale yellow. Extremely fresh nose: floral notes, minerally. A little sharp due to its acidity; light body, very fresh with a slightly mineral finish.
