This superb Barolo is fragrant, revealing a bouquet of rose, cherry, cocoa, plum, fried leaves, vanilla and clove. Great length, with lots of grippy tannins which will allow the wine to evolve over the next 15+ years.
Nova Scotia’s signature grape, L’Acadie proves its suitability in this fine-bubbled traditional-method sparkler. Fragrant orchard-blossom aromas. Juicy apple and crisp citrus flavours. Tart minerality lingers on a very dry finish. 30 months en tirage instills yeasty bread notes. Palate-cleansing with oysters on the half-shell.
The rum equivalent of easing back into a soft, buttery, worn-in leather armchair. Molasses, sultana, fruitcake, and butterscotch on the nose; smooth, silky, and sensuous on the palate, with enough lively, spicy, marmalade nuances to keep the overtly hedonistic palate in check. Try not to like it. Go ahead…resistance is futile.
Cherry red in colour, this delicious Pinot has a spicy, earthy nose of rose petals and raspberry candy. Medium-bodied and deceptively dry, the flavours of sweet raspberry and pomegranate fill the mouth. A beautifully balanced wine with a lovely mouthfeel.
Elegant; the opaque black colour heralds the cassis, vanilla, spice, mint, violets, cocoa and smoke which are framed on a refined, medium-bodied frame. There is great length and suave tannins, so drink until 2020. Pair with rack of lamb.
Made in Hamburg Ontario by seasoned brewmaster, Charles Maclean, this porter is made with eight types of barley giving it silky notes of dark chocolate, toffee and espresso. The beer is finished with Ontario cherries for a ribbon of tart cherries. Share a bottle with brownies for dessert.
This powerful 100% Syrah serves up a sophisticated bouquet of cassis, violets, tobacco smoke, black pepper, bay leaf, raspberry and cocoa. Still grippy; I would suggest holding it until 2017 and then drinking until 2022, preferably with a peppercorn-crusted NY strip.
