This benchmark South East Kelowna Riesling experienced a stellar, warm vintage, yet its trademark mouth-watering acidity, vibrant palate and mineral finish ensure refreshment. Fuji apple, ripe pear, lime zest and spicy guava pervade from nose to finish. Its off-dry sweetness loves chili squid.
Showing deep straw/gold in the glass with refined floral and honeyed citrus scents and elegant, medium-sweet, honeyed lemon citrus, drying mineral, well-balanced acidity and lingering lemon honey on the finish.
This is a great example of the new style of Chilean Cabs with its restraint and elegance. Deep ruby in colour, the nose has an intriguing floral note above the blackcurrant and spicy oak. Lovely mouthfeel and a firm finish.
Forest-floor scents pique the nose while earthy mushroom fills the palate. Red cherry, cinnamon and black tea pervade from start to finish. Firm acidity and integrated tannins ensure a food-friendly quaff. A good match with grilled Portobello mushrooms.
Big Drop focuses on the non-alcoholic segment, although their products are technically 0.4% ABV most of the time. Fermented rather than de-alcoholized, the secret to the texture is lactose, which adds enough texture to replace the alcohol. The Pale Ale features a split between North-American grapefruit bitterness and English herbal greenery, making this a rarity: a non-alcoholic beer with flavour.
A grassy-herbaceous nose with grapefruit and gooseberry fruits. In the mouth, it’s lip-smacking good with tart citrus, kiwi and grass notes. Altogether a tangy, fresh and vibrant white that goes nicely with seafood salad, asparagus or fresh pea soup.
Clear medium garnet. The nose of raspberry and cedarwood gives way to sweet crème-caramel, plums and violets. Full-bodied with lush sweet cherry and blackberry flavours. Good acidity and soft tannins prevent flabbiness. The model wine for home-grilled burgers. Drink this year or next.
