Perfumed with aromas of violets, plum and spice. Full-flavoured with a silky texture, juicy core and a long, mineral finish. A delicious, approachable Aglianico that provides great character and value.
Very dark. Complex nose of cooked red and black fruits, kirsch, tapenade and notes of vanillin. More than full-bodied, it is dense and generous in the mouth; its chewy texture coats the palate with satisfaction. Great future.
Strofilia Estate was started by two friends in 1984. This is the latest project in their portfolio, Syn+, the result of the next generation experimenting with their family’s accomplished practices. This is a blend of Moschofilero and Roditis, both at altitude, all in stainless for preserving the bright fruit. Perfumed pear, yellow apple, peach, melon and light lining of lees on this easy, bright and fresh white. A bitter grapefruit pithiness rings on the finish. Easy, smashable, slim white, for chilling and enjoying now (at a great price).
Clear, deep plum red. Medium-intensity nose of plums, cherries, a little raisin, molasses and smoke. Somewhat thin on the palate with simple acidic raspberry, blackcurrant and general red-berry flavours. Will last several more years, but may not improve much.
Complex, firmly structured wine showing developed dark fruit with a deft touch of oak encased in firm dry tannic grip with good weight and overall balance. Give it another 2 to 3 years in the cellar.
Clear medium-deep ruby red. Fairly intense smoky, sweaty nose of raspberry jam, plums and oak. Medium-bodied with simple, jammy cranberry and strawberry flavours. The finish is short and the tannins almost gone. Will last another year but won’t get better, drink now.
Made with 100% estate-grown fruit, half wild-yeast-fermented and aged for 6 months in new French oak. Aromas of stone fruit and tropical hints on the nose precede a well-textured palate with generous mouth feel and some vanilla and toasty notes before a lingering close.
