Brimming with red fruit and raspberry plus earthy and sage hints, with a luscious but well-structured palate of juicy raspberry, mulberry and mocha, underpinned by a wicked streak of Similkameen minerality. Raisin, pepper and spice persisting on the midpalate through a savoury edged ending.
Medium ruby. Red fruits (ripe strawberries) with hints of rubber and fennel. Light to medium body, nice fresh, fruity taste. Soft texture that turns a little dry in the short but clean finish. Ready to drink.
Pale bright yellow. Citrus, dry minerality and a hint of asparagus. Good intensity. Vivid acidity, nice balance between the mineral and fruit flavours. The intense finish is very dry. Oysters would be perfect.
Nothing says Chile like the Carménère grape. A nose of lovely black cherry, cassis, small blackcurrants, pepper and sweet spices. It’s lush and plump on the palate with juicy berries, toasted oak and soft tannins.
Ruby colour. Fine nose of red and black fruits without the vegetal notes sometimes found in Chilean red wines. Full bodied, it fills the mouth; its tannins are finely grained and barely rough. Ready to drink and quite delicious.
This Argentine blend of Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon has a generous nose of thick blackberry, wild raspberry, earth, tar and beautiful oak spice notes. The dark berries on the palate meld perfectly with the spice notes, bramble and liquorice through a smooth finish.
The grapes for this Riesling were picked late despite the heat of the vintage, but it is finished with less residual sugar. It shows ripe grapefruit, green apple, floral and mineral notes on the nose. I love the texture in Charles Baker’s Rieslings and even though it’s from a warmer vintage, it still shows classic tension and acidity through the finish. I sense the 2009s and 2008s will outlast the 2010 vintage in the cellar, but this is a beauty for drinking now or two or three years down the road. A must for that CB vertical.
