Opens with aromatic ripe tropical and citrus fruit with some grassy herbal freshness and discernable pineapple and exotic floral perfume. Ripe citrus and tropical fruit flavours are tempered by dry mineral grip and zesty acidity. Attractive stone-fruit note kicks in on the finish. Plenty of charm and great value.
A Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Deep ruby colour, with a complex nose of vanilla oak, cedar and blackcurrant and a floral note, it’s medium-bodied, fruity and fresh. Flavours of red and blackcurrants are backed by vanilla oak, finishing with soft tannins.
Uncle Pepe’s unfiltered, unclarified version of his Fino, bottled in spring at the time of maximum yeast (“flor”) activity, intending a fresh and delicate experience. Clear deep gold. Aromas of yeast and dried pear and the umami of salty salami. Light-bodied, tasting of ripe apple and a certain grapey-ness that could deceive you into tasting sweetness, nicely balanced with a bit of almond bitterness. The “En Rama” version, in my opinion, is different, but not necessarily better.
Partially oak aged (15%). Vanilla and citrus up front, followed by vibrant fresh lemon lime underpinned by juicy acidity, with creamy and mineral notes that carry through to a zesty luscious close.
This well-priced sparkling Chardonnay from Burgundy is straw coloured with a toasty, apple and citrus bouquet. It's medium-bodied, dry, with lively lemon-lime acidity and flavours of apple and warm brioche.
“Vermouth is super trendy now,” Rocío Osborne told me while on a recent trip to Spain. So much so, it turns out, that her family’s company — sherry vintners since 1772 — has crafted one of its own. With a base of Medium and PX sherries and locally sourced wormwood, dittany (look it up) and bitter orange peel, Osborne Vermouth treads a perfect balance between sweet/bitter/spicy/herbal notes. Try on the rocks with a thin orange slice, or use in your favourite cocktail. Hopefully you’ll see it in your market soon.
Made from 60-to-70-year-old 100% Glera from 200 m above sea level. A fine stream of bubbles with firm, persistent mousse. Floral aromas followed by creamy notes, orchard fruits on the palate with mineral background, emphasized by acidity and freshness, well balanced and good length.
