A very different wine for Niagara with the Malbec and Shiraz (a 50/50 blend) co-fermented in demi-muid (600-litre) oak barrels. The nose is expressive with blackberry, blueberry, dark plums, roasted meats, mocha, liquorice and smoke built in an old-world style. Very earthy and structured on the palate with currants, anise and cracked black peppercorns, with good acid and firm tannins.
Soft texture and juicy with supple cherry and red currant notes, a touch of pepper and fresh herbs. A blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay.
A classic Chianti in both senses. Deep ruby colour, cedar and cherry nose with a spicy liquorice note, well-extracted fruit, dry and stylish with soft tannins and a fine, lingering finish.
Effusive green apple and lime aromas, flecked by beguiling petrol notes. Tropical fruit and ripe peach flavours grip the scintillating palate. The soaring acidity and livewire texture induce salivation, while the persistent wet slate taste finishes dry. An iconic representation of a benchmark Okanagan style. Impressive on its own; inspiring with West Coast seafood.
One of the lowest-priced white Burgundies you can buy, and, I have to say, it’s better than many at twice the price. A clean, fresh nose of apple, citrus and floral notes. It’s unoaked and crisp on the palate with green apple flavours and touches of citrus and minerals. Nice with fresh fish dishes.
For the price, this wine packs a lot of punch. Medium body and well balanced; the pineapple, golden apple and honey of the grape is gently caressed by oaky notes of vanilla, spice and toast. On the palate, it is ripe with brisk acid and a long aftertaste of banana cream. It should evolve well over the next 4 years.
A new brand sourced from the former Inniskillin Okanagan Dark Horse Vineyard. Aromas of red and black fruit with smoky notes and vanilla introduce a fruit driven palate of redcurrant, blackberry and cassis with undertones of spice and earthy tones, approachable tannins before a toasty close.
