It has an interesting and complex nose of lime cordial, tangerine, white peach, honeysuckle, minerals and a lovely salinity wafting from the glass. It’s a drier expression than I am used to from CB with flavours of grapefruit, lime, river-rock freshness and some savoury notes through the finish.
Nicely balanced, delicious expression of Pinot Noir with integrated 10% neutral oak: cranberry, cherry with apple and citrus background and lingering acidity. Best of Class ACWC.
A well-priced white Bordeaux, Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. Deep straw colour with a spicy, toasty nose of apples; full on the palate, well-balanced and forward with just enough oak to give it a round mid-palate.
An elegant blend of Syrah and Grenache with aromas and flavours of blackberries, black cherries, and hints of chocolate and coffee, soft tannins and a long, soft finish. A great match for pork and veal.
Clear pale gold. Understated nose of flowers and lime; also a bit of apple and celery leaf. Light-bodied and dry, with bright acidity and lime and orange flavours leading to a long finish. Made to accompany smoked salmon. Drink over the next 2 years.
Hazy light brown colour with persistent foam. Hints of light caramel over delicate hops, slightly malted and cereal notes. An explosion of CO2 in the mouth with an acid, dry taste of medium body. Lasting flavourful finish. The brewery was recently acquired by Molson/Coors; let's hope the quality will not suffer.
Poggio Morino Tenuta is in Scansano, Maremma/Super Tuscan territory. The diurnal shift between Maremma’s long, hot days and marine-influenced nights allow for great ripening while preserving acidity, certainly seen in this Vermentino. Ripe and expansive, with green fig, honeysuckle, lemon thistle, flake salts, a bed of lees and a thorny Mediterranean scrub note on the warming finish. Ferment and aging in stainless preserves the piercing lemon-pith acidity. This is well suited for flavourful and meaty seafood like scallops or sea bass.
