Pale straw in colour with a spicy, minerally, grapefruit nose with a honeyed note; light to medium-bodied, just off-dry with grapefruit and honey flavours and fresh citrus acidity giving the wine great length.
This is one very elegant Champagne (25% barrel-aged Chardonnay in the blend). Straw colour; creamy nose of white flowers, apple, ginger and a leesy note; round on the palate, very dry; white peach and green apple flavours, finishing with a nutty, chalky note.
Their hillside vineyards along the eastern side of the Silverado Trail offer a variety of exposures, which enhances complexity, as does the inclusion of Cab Franc (12%). Features classic blackcurrant intertwined with a fine herbal thread. Loads of mouth-filling sweet black fruits, complemented by a warm spiciness and supported by ripe, well-polished tannins. Cellar over the next 10 years.
The LCBO’s only general list Grüner is a fabulous value and a solid introduction to the varietal if you have yet to experience it. White peach, honey, green apple, lime, white pepper, mineral and celery notes. Refreshing, dry and very good length.
From late-picked Pinot Noir grapes. Clear, pale rusty red. Medium nose of raspberries and violets. The ripe grapes make the wine taste almost sweet, with strawberry and raspberry flavours. Light-bodied with acidity in good balance with the fruit and a long finish. Drink up.
For sweet wine lovers. Deep ruby-purple colour with a mature rim; cedary, plum bouquet; full-bodied, sweet plum jam flavour with spicy oak notes and balancing acidity. Great value.
This Riesling is one of the best buys in German wines in terms of quality for price. You get a wine that’s bright, pale straw in colour with a minerally, honeyed citrus nose; it’s light-bodied, off-dry and fairly dances on the palate with honeyed apple and citrus flavours. It’s the kind of wine you’d want to sip before dinner or try it with Asian food or lightly curried dishes.
