Bright purple in colour with fresh vinous and herbal aromas and flavours, vibrant, balanced, appealing and easy drinking with silky tannins and a juicy finish. A nice match with grilled meats and game birds.
Bright ruby with a purplish rim. Morello cherry, raspberry, fruit stones and cranberry make the fruity inspired nose very attractive. The medium-bodied mid-palate has significant volume and a velvety texture that wraps the gently firm tannic core with crunchy fruit flavours. Drinking well now, it will hold 3 to 4 years.
This offering is an off-dry Chenin, along the lines of a ripe Vouvray Demi-Sec. Light yellow in colour, there is Golden Delicious apple, mango, wet wool, minerals, citrus and honey, which are supported by the crisp acidity. Pair it with goat cheese– and asparagus-stuffed crepes or scallops in a Dijon cream sauce.
Medium yellow. Shy nose, delicate fruity notes. Elegant on the palate, the discreet acidity is more present in the finish. There is a nice fruity taste and a good volume in the mid-palate. Elegance over power.
New-World wine? Fairview Cellar was established in 1693. That's right — Columbus era. This is a blend of Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Petit Syrah, Carignan, Cinsault from Paarl, aged in tanks and barrels. Ripe, juicy and smooth, this medium- bodied, easy-drinking red carries smoked meats, cherries and stewed cassis to a short, clipped finish. There's a driving level of VA and some reduction brewing underneath the surface of this screw-capped wine which detract. That said, partnership with smoky beef ribs will mitigate.
Among the most consistent and expressive Sauvignon Blancs in Niagara. It has an exotic and aromatic nose of spicy pear, fresh-cut grass, grapefruit, herbs, honeysuckle and gooseberries. The flavours echo the nose and everything just feels fresh, lithe and pretty all the way through the finish.
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Syrah. Dense purple in colour, the wine has a cedary, cherry nose; it’s medium-bodied and dry with richly extracted cherry and plum flavours and balancing acidity.
