This muscular proprietary red is a blend of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon and the remainder equal parts Merlot and Franc. It delivers in spades: plums, blackberries, dark cherries, tobacco, liquorice and dark cocoa. Extremely full bodied, with impressive concentration and huge tannins, it should slumber in the cellar for another five years and then will easily last until 2030. Patience is required, but the reward will be sublime.
Planted specifically for rosé. Gamay blended with Pinot Noir plus a splash of Pinot Gris yields aromas of red berries and sage; quince and citrus wrapped in juicy acidity before a dry finish.
Merlot blended with 10% Cabernet Franc, sourced from prime south valley Osoyoos estate sites. Lifted red and black berry notes up front, followed by a plush ‘n plummy palate of blackberry, mulberry and vanilla, wrapped in well integrated tannins with a slight savoury edge through the lengthy close.
Recently released in select markets, Woodford Reserve’s rye doesn’t sway from the brand’s trademark delicacy and balance. Intricate on the nose with fresh peaches and mint, orange peel, vanilla roiboos and hints of dusty silo. Engaging in the mouth, tasting of honeyed granola, sweet tea and dark chocolate and a long, methol-spiked finish fading sweet to dry and back again. An exceptionally pretty whiskey.
Bright, intense nose of dried cherries, prunes and figs with a lovely mixture of dried fruit and spice flavours, hint of cocoa with a tight core, rich yet easygoing mouthfeel, well-integrated tannins and a long, fresh, flavourful finish. Best served with rich meat dishes or strong cheese.
Delicate apple, floral and subtle honeyed scents with lively fizz, elegant ripe apple and a drop of honey on the palate. Finishes just off-dry with some creaminess offset by grippy mineral and refreshing acidity.
A structured Cab Franc with lots of tannins underpinning the cassis, violets, thyme, graphite, spice and vanilla. Great length but still needs a year or two in the bottle to come together. Requires something grilled, preferably along the lines of cow.
