Though it might still be fashionable to do so, don’t give up on New World Merlot! This sample from Simi has it all wrapped up with aromas of sweet dark plum, sandalwood, vanilla, mocha and allspice. Rich, warm, perfectly balanced and, well, just yummy. Mind blowingly complex? Maybe not. But impossible to put down? Pretty much.
An even blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, disgorged August 2016. A fine stream and solid mousse with brioche and stone fruit up front, followed by toasty and distinctive Pinot notes on the palate with almond hints and well-defined, structured mouthfeel and tension, excellent acidity, citrus and stone fruit through a lengthy finish.
This is the essence of luscious green fruit, showing aromatic, deeply flavoured and concentrated green plum in a limpid, smooth-bodied package. Supported by distinctive mineral, unique to the local terroir, it finishes with refreshing but not overbearing acidity.
Clear medium-deep garnet. Medium-intensity nose of raspberry, earth and spice. Full-bodied and soft on the palate with smooth tannins supporting ripe fruit flavours: raspberry, blackberry and plum. Long finish. Will last another couple of years.
Clear, very pale yellow. Faint but pleasant nose of sweet peach and pear, and a bit of orange blossom. Light-bodied and light-flavoured, dry with refreshing acidity over faint lemon-lime flavours. Drink immediately.
Winemaker Emma Garner has crafted a pretty Cabernet Sauvignon with ripe blackberries, cherries, raspberry bramble, leather and spice notes on the nose. It does have tannic structure, but not overbearing, with lovely red and dark fruits, elegant spice notes and already well on its way to being perfectly integrated.
Elegant, archetypal Sancerre aromatic character, revealing delicate floral scent, vibrant fresh green fruit and gun flint mineral. Fine green fruit expresses gooseberry and a hint of passion fruit backed by steely mineral and vibrant acidity.
