What a gorgeous wine, with a nose of cassis, blackcurrants, plums, earth, sweet oak spice and mocha. It is textured on the palate with layers of concentrated dark fruits, chalky tannins, chocolate-mint notes, lavish spice and a long, long finish. Serve with rack of lamb.
My tagline for this wine is Italy meets Chablis. This stainless steel fermented Chardonnay is mineral driven with accents of apple and citrus. Crisp acid and excellent length make for a wine that is ideally suited for white fish, marinated anchovies or sashimi.
Aromas and flavours of blackberries, spice and liquorice, a touch of coffee, soft tannins and a smooth, fresh finish. A nice match with tomato based dishes.
Upfront raspberry, cherry and herbal notes precede a seductive, plush palate of dark cherries, red current and spice, with lingering pepper notes through the mid palate and finish. Excellent structure and slightly grippy tannins suggest plenty of aging potential but also drinking very well now.
Elegant and bright with plum and cedar, underlying ripe fruit and roses, fine, silky tannins and a wonderful balance of fruit, acid and restraint. Perfect with roasted pig’s head.
With fruit from Burge’s Summers vineyard in the relatively cool-climate Eden Valley, and from the Adelaide Hills, this Chard shows inviting citrus, light toast and vanilla, charred oak and cream notes. The fruit is intense on the palate, but nicely balanced with the oak, spice and acid. Could try this with grilled veal chops with mushrooms.
This 100% Cab Sauv has an elegant nose of red and black fruits, earthy with lots of oak. Generous, its tight structure has roundness and elegance, retaining good freshness. The tender tannins reveal themselves in the long, firm finish.
