This extremely limited rum is crafted by local legends RL Seale & Co Ltd, the last Bajan-owned rum producer on the island. Aged 3 years in former bourbon casks before mellowing in port wood for an additional 6, this aromatic spirit expresses dark cherries, tobacco, hay and an alluring funk (for those that dig a romp in the barnyard). Leather, vanilla pastry cream, cassis and oak lead the unctuous palate.
Intensely aromatic bouquet shows floral and ripe yellow tree fruit. Fine fruit flavours suggest apple, pear and citrus, with plenty of depth, vibrant acidity and a nice touch of gravely mineral on the finish.
Refined red and dark fruit scents with cigar box and a whiff of mint evolving to blackberry and red currant flavours wrapped in velvety smooth tannins; dark chocolate, fruit and spice on the well-integrated finish.
Hearkens back to the old-style California Chards with a big, rich, opulent nose of buttered toast, poached pear, tropical fruits and layers of fine oak spices. It has an extravagant feel on the palate with buttery-rich fruit, spices and a nice finishing jolt of citrus on the finish.
Don’t look at the price before reading the review! Dense purple colour with a cedary, plum and vanilla oak bouquet; full-bodied, dry, richly extracted, mouth-filling flavours of cherries and ripe plums, firmly structured with great length.
Dark ruby. Red and black berries, hints of smoke and leather. Light to medium body, slightly acidic with a soft texture and mild tannins, overall a bit rustic in its character. Good length. Drink now.
Opaquely deep purple. A “black” wine: aromas of black pepper, black cherry and black liquorice. Medium tannins and acidity. Fruit now starting to fade but still a bomb. Drink now.
