FA’s take on a Ripasso wine features cassis, plum, raspberry, tobacco, graphite, cocoa and vanilla. Medium plus body with lots of fine tannins and very good length. Drink over the next 5 years. A blend of Cabernet Franc (62%), Cabernet Sauvignon (25%) and Merlot (13%).
Deep fruit scents are accented by spicy cinnamon and peppery notes with slightly tart plum and cherry flavours, youthful acidity and dry tannic grip. Give it another 2 to 3 years in the cellar.
Clear medium-deep garnet. Bouquet of red berries, a bit of cotton candy, rhubarb and sweet black liquorice. Medium-bodied and light-flavoured, tasting of cranberry and strawberry. Won’t get better; drink now.
Black fruit and vanilla play beneath a meaty gamy nose, followed by dusty wild blackberry and cassis on the plush and plummy, black-pepper palate, with moderate tannins through a close of lingering berries and spice.
PTG stands for “Passe-Tout-Grains,” after the lesser-known Pinot Noir/Gamay blend of Burgundy. Like its forerunner, this one is an appetizingly lively wine with peppery raspberry and red-cherry scents and succulent red fruit flavours supported by approachable tannins, lively acidity and food-friendly sour-cherry bite. To be gulped down with sheer pleasure.
Dark purple in colour with rich dark fruit, bold tannins and structure; toasty with hints of balsamic, with a long, rich finish.
This wine is red Burgundy on steroids. Light purple in colour with a nose of raspberries, tomato leaf and rust; the wine is medium-bodied, elegant and dry with dense flavours of raspberry and dark chocolate with a long, lingering finish. Match it with duck breast or grilled Portobello mushrooms.
