Sourced entirely from Blomidon’s seaside estate vineyard, this one opens with a refined bouquet expressing ripe lemon citrus, vanilla and creamy brioche notes. Somewhat leaner on the palate than the nose suggests, it shows fine mousse, crisp green apple with secondary grapefruit citrus, a touch of saltiness, lively acidity and signature Nova Scotia mineral grip. Has the fruit and overall structure to develop further over 5‒7 years or more.
Good varietal; fresh floral and green fruit on the nose with attractively clean green apple flavour, refreshing acidity and crisp, dry finish.
This is a big, strapping Chardonnay, straw-coloured with a funky pencil-lead, apple and spicy-oak nose; full-bodied and rich, it delivers well-balanced creamy apple and pear flavours with fresh acidity to give it length.
Very pale. Honey, clover flower, dry stone and hints of tropical fruits. The sharp acidity is matched by a thick, fat mid-palate that coats the mouth. It ends on a powerful, warm finish of great length. Savennières is a tiny appellation that provides some of the best expressions of the Chenin Blanc grape.
Dense purple in colour with a cedary, blackcurrant bouquet; full-bodied, dry with richly extracted blackcurrant and blueberry flavours. Firmly structured with ripe tannins and will reward 2 to 3 years cellaring.
This improbable blend of the red Pinotage with Chenin Blanc reveals unusual aromas of dried savoury as well as floral and ripe fruit scents. Characteristic Chenin citrusy flavours lead off on the palate with red berry fruit in a minor key. An imaginative, well-balanced wine.
We don’t see many Shiraz from Western Australia in our market so this is really worth trying, especially at the price. Dense purple-ruby in colour, it offers a cedary, spicy nose of white pepper and blackberries. Full-bodied, firmly structured with fruity blackberry and blackcurrant flavours carried on lively acidity, it’s somewhat high in alcohol (14.7%) with a tight tannic finish. Excellent value.
