Presents aromatic floral blossom with ripe stone fruit, a suggestion of honey and a satisfyingly long finish. Effectively combines opulent fruit flavour with a lightly refreshing sensation on the off dry palate.
Even though the distinctively blinged-out Bottega Gold doesn't carry DOCG on the label, it is entirely DOCG-quality fruit. A quirk in the appellation laws dictate that the bottle has to be made of clear glass in a limited range of shades. Blingy, to be sure, but it's what's inside that counts. Very concentrated nose, with yellow apple, ripe pear and light toast throughout the creamy, gently frothy palate, and a perfumed floral note that floats the finish. Presents on the upper sweetness level for Brut. Unlike most Charmat-produced Prosecco, Bottega Gold is made from Glera grapes, but unlike standard Proseccos, it is produced to order via a single fermentation in the winery's specialized pressurized cuve close tanks for 40 days.
Mineral, lime, bergamot, peach, honey and hints of jasmine encompass the vibrant acidity. Off-dry with fine length.
Beautifully focused with crunchy green apple, lime, citrus peel and a touch of petrol. Bright, mouth-watering acidity, great backbone and texture; slightly off-dry, but with great balance and a long finish. A bargain.
Tannat is a grape we usually associate with the black wines of Cahors in southwest France. But Uruguay is making waves with this tannic variety. Dense purple-black in colour, it has a cedary, blackberry nose with toasty oak notes. Medium- to full-bodied, it has a dry, spicy blackberry flavour buttressed with firm but ripe tannins.
Dark and silky in texture with layers of blackberry, black cherry, liquorice, sweet leather and fresh herbs; soft tannins and a long, fresh finish.
Full-bodied; the blackberry, blueberry, raspberry, peanut butter, chocolate, smoke and mint inundate the senses. The palate is jammy with loads of plummy tannins and delicious length. Pair this with some hardy winter fair, such as a braised lamb shank or a herb-and-pepper-encrusted prime rib roast.
