Deep ruby with purple highlights. Full-bodied yet elegant; there are masses of plum, blackberry, cassis, raspberry, eucalyptus, anise, tar and violets. Concentrated, ripe and excellent length. The alcohol is 14.5%, but there is no burn. Nice balance.
Simple but well made with supple tannins and generous notes of raspberries and wild strawberries with well-integrated alcohol and balanced despite the soft acid. A good contender for an everyday wine. Serve slightly chilled.
The Okanagan seems to bring out the best in this grape, and this one is no exception. Fragrant floral and ripe grapefruit on the nose lead the way for a supple creamy mouthful of refined grapefruit and green apple flavours. Zesty acidity and dry mineral grip add verve and dynamic balance.
Though labeled as a “vodka” and bottled at 40% ABV, this pale amber spirit comes off more as a traditional herbal/fruit liqueur. The vodka base is infused with herbs, spices and dried fruits and barrel-matured. The result hints at cardamom, ginger, white pepper, plum, vanilla and caramel. Viscous and fairly sweet, yet packing enough heat so as not to come off as cloying, it’s spicy and warm on the palate with just a hint of wild herbs and honey. Try chilled neat, or mix with an equal part of apple juice in a Champagne flute. Top with sparkling wine and garnish with a cinnamon stick for an apple mimosa (created by Toronto-based mixologist Ger Cullen).
Dense purple in colour with a high-toned nose of black plums with a floral to note. Medium-bodied, dry, beautifully balanced, savoury ripe black fruit flavours.
Bright ruby. Nice red fruit, a touch of spice and oak notes. Medium body, soft texture. Slightly warm, almost firm tannins; nice long finish with a tad of bitterness. Drink now.
From the Wolf Blass stable, this is a non-vintage blend of Grenache and Shiraz. It's a wine that fairly shouts flavour at you from the glass. Deeply coloured with a bouquet of black raspberries and plums, it's medium-bodied and dry, while being fruity and jammy on the palate with herbal notes. In other words, an easy-drinking red.
