Multi-layered, complex, floral and elegant. Full flavours of bright plum, berry and spice with liquorice and a gorgeous mouthfeel that leads to a long, luxurious finish. Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Tannat. Firm enough for grilled bison, but elegant enough for grilled chicken.
An organic wine, it appears pale gold with a munificence of fine bubbles. A medium-intensity nose yields strong yeast aromas along with apples and custard. Light-bodied, it tastes of quince, lemon and lime. Light-tasting and refreshing, this would make a good aperitif. Drink immediately.
From 50-year-old vines originally planted by pioneering Joe Busnardo. Pretty garnet in the glass, aromas of ripe red and black berries with earthy notes, followed by a juicy, balanced and well-structured palate with firm tannins, damson, mulberry and blackberry before leafy and mineral hints through the finish.
Bright and assertive aromas suggesting cinnamon, sultana, candied orange peel, caramel and tamarind. Dry, spicy and warm in the mouth with caramel, toffee, marmalade and some spicy wood notes. Can be sipped neat, but try in a Jamaican Mule: 1 part Appleton Estate Signature Blend, three lime wedges, two parts Fever-Tree ginger beer and a dash of Angostura bitters. Squeeze the limes into a highball glass and muddle. Add ice and build remaining ingredients into the glass. Stir.
A great surprise from a cool vintage. Clocking in with a natural alcohol of 14.5%, this Gamay resembles a Cru Beaujolais with its plum, boysenberry, raspberry, strawberry and pepper personality. Suave tannins, fresh acid and a long aftertaste complete the package. Charcuterie was made for this wine.
Pale straw colour with a minerally, spicy nose offering notes of pear and white flowers; medium bodied, dry, spare and very crisp and clean. Knife-edge acidity. Will cellar well.
Dark ruby-purple in colour with a cedary nose of currants and a light floral note; medium- to full-bodied, dry, well-extracted blackcurrant and black cherry flavours, well-structured with fresh acidity and good length.
