Rich, bold and structured blend of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Tannat, all grown in the diverse soils of the Remolinos Vineyard in the shadows of the Andes Mountains. The name refers to the owls that protect the vineyard from pests and the whirlwinds (remolinos) that blow through the vineyard to keep the grapes dry and healthy.
Beguiling fragrance of rose petals, strawberry and raspberries opens the way for delicate, seductive red-fruit flavours backed by refreshing acidity, gentle spritz and an agreeable touch of residual sweetness on the finish. A charming wine that serves equally well as an aperitif or to accompany hors d’oeuvres and other picnic-style foods.
Citrus, mineral, white peach, toast, anise and lime are all in play in this medium-bodied white. Refreshingly crisp with a long mineral aftertaste. Drink over the next 3 to 4 years.
Clear medium-deep plum red. Pronounced nose of good PN typicity: raspberry and violets with interesting hints of barnyard, spice, smoke and even menthol. Medium-bodied, presenting a mouthful of crushed red berries, especially raspberries, over soft tannins and refreshing acidity. Definitely not a faint-hearted PN, this will mature for another 2 years. The perfect match for roast smoked duck with a spicy berry sauce and potatoes au gratin.
Bright straw in colour with a bready nose complemented by apple and lemon notes. Light- to medium-bodied, firmly structured, crisply dry, red apple flavour with lemony acidity. Great length.
Clear, deep, young-looking purple despite its age. Nose of smoky vanilla oak and raspberry jam. Medium-bodied with adequate acidity and tannins but the sour cherry fruit is fading. Drink up.
From the ripe and lush aromas on the nose, I was expecting a flabby palate. To the contrary! Like an elegant ballerina, the wine components are perfectly balanced. Notes of nectarine, lemon, hazelnut and butter are just slightly overshadowed by the vanilla flavours but it is just a matter of a year or two until the aromas are in harmony. Impressive mouth-watering acidity despite the hot vintage. Magnificent. Put it in your cellar for 4-6 years.
