Clear medium yellow. Moderate nose of apple, lemon, banana and lots of oak. Light-bodied with lemon custard and more apple flavours and soft acidity, but the fruit is a bit thin, so drink asap. A good choice with a soft mild cheese like Brie.
Swap your white wine for a bottle of Cidre Blanc, a blend of barrel fermented Sauvignon Blanc and heritage apples made by venerated cider maker and chef Chris Haworth. Whiffs of lime zest, dried grass, peach and touch of funk on the nose, with some stone fruit flavours on the sip. An effervescent and moussey body with a dry finish, this cider is refreshing with zippy acidity.
Medium yellow. Very fruity nose, with a good ripeness, a mineral touch adds complexity. Finesse is the main theme on the palate with ripe flavours and a carrying acidity, almost cutting in the finish of great length.
This ripe, full and fleshy Victoria red is a spicy blend of Shiraz and Durif (Petite Sirah), full of mulled berries, spices, raspberry and blueberry jam. Happily riding the wave of sunbaked sugars, with ripe thick tannins, bittersweet cocoa and nutmeg spicing. A brisk, bitter espresso note cuts off the finish short and amplifies the heat; best mitigated with saucy braised beef ribs.
Multi-varietal “cocktail” of estate-grown, oceanside Gewürz, Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Ortega and Schöenberger yields forward honey and stone fruit notes before a layered and juicy, seamless palate that delivers complexity and interest with textured umami.
Clear, medium-deep lemon-peel yellow. Light nose of lemon meringue pie and lime. Definitely an old-world Chardonnay, well-balanced and complex, tasting of ripe apples and vanilla from wood maturation. Has another year or 2 left in it.
Clear, deep, young-looking purple despite its age. Nose of smoky vanilla oak and raspberry jam. Medium-bodied with adequate acidity and tannins but the sour cherry fruit is fading. Drink up.
