Dusty black fruit and spicy aromas precede a medium-bodied palate of ripe dark berry notes, earthy and mocha hints, wrapped in silky, supple tannins before a lingering finish. Pair with duck breast, wild mushroom risotto or sockeye salmon.
An obvious old-school Rioja with strawberry, stewed plums, coconut, red flowers, stewed tomatoes and cedar. Excellent length and ready to go.
Do NOT open this wine now — you would be committing infanticide. Purple red, clear but so dense it is opaque. Nose of strawberries, light molasses, tea, tobacco and leather. Packed with cassis and blackberries, it is presently too tannic and unharmonious — the score is based on potential.
Lifted strawberry and red berries. Pale salmon colour with a juicy citrus background and good acidity. Some clove, spice and zesty peppery notes through the finish. Juicy, luscious and generous.
Deep plum red. Faint nose of raspberry and smoke. Medium body, very dry and tart, tasting of sour cherries. Drink to 2020.
Somewhat tight; earth, roasted herbs, vanilla, black pepper, dark raspberry, sweet strawberry and red flowers reveal themselves. Splendid length. Drink over the next 2‒3 years.
Full ruby colour. Red and black fruits, liquorice and a good deal of oak. It fills the mouth with its supple yet firm body, fine tannins and a long tight finish. Very good and a reference in Chianti.
