Ample apples here ― warm yellow and crisp green ― woven with perfumed apple blossoms through this sparkling wine from the Adelaide Hills. Equal parts Chardonnay and Pinot Noir strike a harmonious chord between firm and ripe, between crisp and baked orchard fruits. Streaking pithy citrus acidity is met by a bump of sweetness on the stony, sage-dusted finish. Enough heft and fruity freshness here to handle many dishes (sautéed apple pork chops was a hit).
A new project from wine marketing guru Christine Coletta. With the number of respected wine experts involved, this wine had better be good ... and it is. Bright, clean and zesty with refreshing citrus and pear aromas and flavours, a classic Okanagan savoury quality, finishing with a soft, yet lifted acidity. Very young in so many ways, both the winery and the wine, but shows loads of elegance and potential. The inaugural vintage is good, but future vintages should be even better.
Classic Beaujolais Cru showing off another fine vintage with appetizing, succulent sour cherry flavours that call for gulping rather than sipping. Supported by food-friendly acidity and lightly firm tannic bite on the finish.
Musqué is an aromatic clone of Chardonnay that gives the wine a floral top note. This wine is light straw in colour with a nose of apples and apple blossom; dry and medium-bodied, it’s surprisingly light on the palate for its 13.6% alcohol. A good buy at the price.
Deep ruby colour with a violet hue; light cedar and sour cherry bouquet; medium-bodied, dry, sour cherry flavour, firmly structured with zesty acidity and a firm tannic finish.
From the Simes Vineyard, on a north facing slope comprised of fine glacial silts and clay. Aromas of orchard and citrus fruits, followed by a well-balanced, focused palate defined by forward green apple and lemon-lime with pith hints and a touch of minerality wrapped in vibrant acidity.
A stellar value from the famed Chardonnay vineyard of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger which is rated Grand Cru per the Échelle des Crus classification. This bubbly is very toasty and autolytic with added nuance in the form of lemon, apple, nuts and hints of caramel. Lively on the palate with creamy bubbles and delightful length.
