Clear, deep plum-red. Strong nose of mixed red berries and sultanas, evolving to plums and dates in the glass. Medium- to full-bodied with black cherry and stewed plum flavours. All components in good balance, and a long finish. At its peak now. Good value.
This singular wine is a blend of 5 different wines from 5 different vintages: 2002 to 2006. The colour is still youthful, but the nose is starting to show some mature cedar qualities, which melds with the plums, dried cherries, earth, dark cocoa and spice. The tannins have melted and the acid is fresh, making for a wine that is ready to drink with braised lamb shanks in a rosemary/red-wine jus.
With the Josh Cabernet Sauvignon as the number one selling California Cabernet at the LCBO, it was only time before a white wine companion would be listed — enter this Chardonnay! It is a well-balanced wine with restrained pineapple, apple, peach citrus and spice. Medium body with a refreshing palate and great length. Can be sipped by itself or with food.
Pale pink. Light strawberry, a salty note reminding of the sea. Delicate taste, fresh and balanced with tender acidity and a slightly fat mid-palate. Drink up.
A dead ringer for a top Saint-Émilion and a worthy successor to the delicious 2012. A deep ruby-purple colour leads into a compelling and polished bouquet of plum, dark cherry, cocoa, coffee, leather, cloves and red flowers. There are lots of firm tannins, but my preference would be to drink it over the next 4–5 years. Duck confit all the way.
From young vines on the Black Sage Bench. Ripe plum and dark berry notes on the nose before a plush and plummy palate defined by varietal darker meaty hints with mocha and vanilla with approachable tannins through a lingering close.
Made from 100% estate grown Pinot Noir. Forward strawberry, cherry and earthy notes with a hint of spice precede a crisp, moderately fruity but fresh palate of strawberry and watermelon, with good acidity and a touch of spice and some minerality.
