Pale yellow. Inviting nose, slightly perfumed with floral and peach/pear notes. Crisp acidity, the fruity flavour is well present in the full mid-palate. Nice balance and lengthy finish. Good buy.
Shows deep burnished gold colour with developed bouquet offering honeyed citrus, spicy and waxy overtones. Lively honeyed citrus flavours give a hint of orange on the medium sweet palate, balanced by brisk acidity and mineral grip. Complex, honeyed citrus notes persist on the long, clean finish.
The first British fizz to land on our shores. This is a tiny, hands-on, traditional method (Méthode Britannique) sparkling house, making small amounts of very high-quality fizz. Salt, wet chalk, lemon pith and subtle earthiness rings on the intense nose and palate. Quite the bite with crunchy, citrus-spun acids, but charms with honest exuberance. Lively and bright, with a puff of smoke lingering. Well done — looking forward to much more Brit fizz. 65/35 Chardonnay/Pinot Noir from 2009 and 2010 is blended and finished with a 10 g/l dosage.
Organically made. Medium-deep old brass colour. Big nose rises out of the snifter with honey, ripe pear, stewed peaches, raw tobacco and caramel — aromas do not get much better than this. On the palate it offers golden raisins and ripe peaches and pears, but the alcohol is a bit hot and the finish is woody.
A little shy on the nose, but nonetheless a very sound pure-varietal Riesling presenting lemon and lime flavours, with bright acidity and firm mineral offset by an attractive creaminess in the mouth. Finishes slightly off-dry.
This estate is located just west of Pomerol and is made with 100% Merlot. The nose shows meaty red fruits, ripe cherry, toasted spices and vanilla. It has round, ripe fruit on the palate with soft tannins. Affordable baby Bordeaux.
The Canadian Club 42-Year-Old Chronicles Issue No. 2 “The Dock Man,” and Canadian Club 43-Year-Old Chronicles Issue No. 3 “The Speakeasy” were both tasted virtually with Canadian Club Brand Ambassador Tish Harcus. Both versions are, in a word, stunning. The 42-year-old offers up a nose of intense ginger, vanilla, biscuit, butterscotch, citrus fruit, and flower blossom. In the mouth, it shows amazing balance and elegance, with flavours suggesting mild anise, caramel, vanilla bean, and clove.
