One of the best-value Chardonnays from Ontario. Straw-coloured with a nose of apple butter and toasty oak, it’s medium-bodied and dry with a fresh apple flavour and well-integrated oak. Beautifully balanced. It’s the kind of wine you can serve with chicken or fish or a Caesar salad.
The grapes for this medium-bodied Chardonnay were sourced from the cool regions of Santa Barbara and Monterey. Aromas and flavours of cream, pineapple, red apple, peach, spice, white flowers and honey are all in play. The lingering finish and crisp acidity provides food versatility and lift.
Dark ruby. Nice and distinctive nose of red fruits, quite ripe. There is a nice freshness on the palate, a velvety feel and the oak component is well balanced. A fine example of California Pinot Noir, ready to drink.
Aromatic spicy plum, herbal and cherry scents yield to elegant red and dark fruit with a suggestion of raspberry in the mouth. Finishes with lightly firm tannic grip and acidity that is brisk but not overbearing.
Citrus with distinct grapefruit character leads off on the nose. Exotic green fruit emerges on the palate with stony mineral and ripe green plum flavour rounding out the dry, food-friendly finish.
Up-front citrus notes before a vibrant lemon-lime palate underpinned by bright acidity before a clean, zesty finish.
A quarter of this wine was barrel-fermented and barrel-aged, giving a vanilla and spice slant to the floral, honey, lime, mint, gooseberry and fruit-salad qualities of the grape. Full-bodied, the great depth and long finish are supported by crisp acidity. It is a worthy successor to the great 2009 rendering.
