A classic London dry gin (45.2%) with very pure aromatics, led by characteristic scents of juniper. Extremely smooth and refined on the palate showing no rough edges or spirity heat, this elegant gin compares favourably with much higher-priced spirits.
The 2012 Laura is the best rendition of this bottling to date. Ripe, it exudes plum, raspberry, vanilla, blue corn, green olive, cocoa and spice. Splendid length, medium body and dusty tannins. A fine wine that won’t break the bank for weeknight meals. A blend of all 5 Bordeaux grapes with a dash of Syrah.
Pouring a deep gold with brilliant clarity and large bubbles, this sparkling UK cider is a new arrival in Canada. Made from a blend of oak and stainless-aged apple juices, aged up to 18 months, this entry-level cider has enough complexity to satisfy more educated sippers. A bright pome fruit aroma on the nose is followed by a sip that balances sweetness with bright acidity and backing notes of light oak, vanilla, apple pie crust and leather.
Almost colourless, with persistent, tiny bubbles. Delicate nose of ripe fresh apple, minerally, slightly perfumed. Light and fresh, it has excellent presence on the palate, filling the mouth with its fruity flavours. No perceptible sweetness, there is just enough residual sugar to bring a feeling of roundness. Excellent!
The cool 2011 vintage meant elegant wines became the benchmark rather than riper, richer wines. A well-balanced blend of the 5 classic Bordeaux grapes plus fleshy Syrah. Fresh aromas and red-fruited flavours dominate, with notes of tobacco, black pepper and cedar. Pairs well with roasted meats.
A good introduction to white Burgundy at an affordable price. Medium straw colour; fresh bouquet of apples and green pineapple; well-balanced, medium-bodied, dry and versatile.
A floral nose with notes of sweet peach, citrus and apple. This non-vintage sparkler shows a surprisingly vigorous mousse, peach and tropical fruits, lemon spritz and a mellow finish.
