Showing persistent fine bead in the glass, this one offers inviting scents of white flowers with citrus and toasty brioche aromas. Clean lemon citrus flavour leads off on the palate, with green apple notes, good weight, refreshing but unaggressive acidity and a lick of mineral. A worthy competitor to non-vintage Champagne.
Made of equal parts Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, all the grapes were harvested from the top villages known as Grand Crus — hence the name. A medium gold colour and a bouquet of yeast, toast, apple, cream, lanolin, banana cream, cherry and earth beguiles. There is superb length with fresh acid rounding out the experience.
Pale yellow, small CO2 bubbles. Minerally nose, peach/pear with floral notes. You first feel the delicate acidity, but it has more weight in the middle palate and through the finish. Ripe fruity taste, distinctive flavour. Ready to drink and over the next few years.
Australia is not the first place I look for quality Riesling at a reasonable price, but this changed my mind. For 1-year-old Riesling it’s already developing petrol notes on the nose to complement the lime, grapefruit and honeyed notes. It has a slight spritz on the palate with a sweet and sour flavour, initially off dry and then dries out on the finish with lively citrus acidity.
Reveals lively fresh cherry, floral and spicy herbal scents with bitter cherry flavour, pleasantly firm tannic bite and sweetish fruit with dark chocolate on the finish.
A pierce of piney resin, orange oil, scrubby rosemary on this unctuous golden PX, one that bathes the palate with thick marmalade and auburn maple syrup. Golden raisins and honeysuckle are flecked with walnuts and rancio notes through the exceptionally long finish. Acidity keeps this aloft, even with a staggering 435 g/l RS. This sweet, youthful wine is made with Pedro Ximénez grapes that were sundried on mats before aging in the traditional earthenware “tinajas” for at least 12 months.
Straw-coloured with a smoky, struck-flint nose of apples and a barnyard note developing. Medium-bodied and crisply dry. Green apple and green pineapple flavours are carried on lively acidity.
