Traditional Method. Bright citrus and green apple with a lightly toasty note and some caramel on the nose. Mouth-puckering green-apple crispness in the mouth with mineral and subtle brioche creaminess on the finish.
2014 was a difficult vintage with heavy rains requiring careful pruning and cluster thinning. Better weather in August saved the day, carrying through to a relatively late harvest in October. This example shows characteristic Nebbiolo scents of violets together with elegant red fruit and a whiff of cinnamon and clove. It is surprisingly approachable on the palate, showing fine red fruit, though still youthful, aggressive acidity. Should be drinking well with another 3 years aging.
Dense purple in colour. Intense, spicy, black fruit nose with notes of vanilla oak and dried herbs. Full bodied, dry, savoury flavours of plum and bitter chocolate.
From some of the oldest Pinot Gris vines on Vancouver Island. The nose is refreshing with lime, melon, citrus and honeysuckle notes. Nice and perky on the palate with juicy citrus notes, melon, peach and minerals in a vibrant, clean style.
A little sparkling-like with fresh aromas of citrus and coriander and yeast; soft and refreshing flavours of coriander, orange peel and spices with a pleasant acidity.
Loads of bright red fruit and spice on the nose which carry through on the palate with fresh herbs, a hint of well integrated oak, balanced, medium-bodied but full flavoured and a long, lingering finish. A versatile food wine that is elegant enough to pair with salmon and structured enough for roast meats.
Made from the indigenous Savatiano grape, appropriately grown near the ancient Temple of Artemis, long associated with Dionysus, the god of wine, this deeply coloured wine offers complex, elegantly scented floral notes, stone fruit and citrus fruit. Stone fruit, lively citrus and some green fruit flavours evolve in the mouth with a suggestion of bitter almond on the refreshingly dry finish. A lovely wine from another Greek variety that deserves to be better known.
