From 27-year-old St Hubertus Vineyard vines in the relatively cool Kelowna area. Fragrant, fruity, juicy and redolent with pink grapefruit, sweet peach and lingering spice. There’s richness on the palate, enhanced by 8 g/l residual sugar. More off-dry than past vintages, so consider pairing it to balance spicy heat.
This is a mouth-filling BC Chardonnay that has the fingerprints of Burgundy all over it. Straw coloured with a nutty, apple and barnyard nose; full bodied and fresh with toasty, apple flavours; a generous mouthfeel ending with a smoky note.
From L’Abbaye des Rocs in Belgium, Blanche Des Honnelles is an outlier styleL a double Witbier. The combination of orange peel and coriander along with the perception of sweetness mean that the beer noses like Cointreau. The sweetness diminishes across the palate and is eventually overthrown by the tart, wheaty finish.
Ruby-plum in colour. Cedary, spicy, plum and redcurrant nose with a light floral note. Medium-bodied and dry, with fragrant redcurrant and orange peel flavours. Firmly structured with evident but ripe tannins.
Bacardí Spiced does a commendable job of keeping some actual rum character intact in its spiced expression. Expect some typical molasses and fruitcake notes with additional forward aromas of vanilla bean, marmalade and baking spices. It is “adult” enough be enjoyed on its own over ice, and I found it worked best mixed with cola (specifically Coke Zero) and a spritz of lime. The vanilla and spice mingle nicely with the trace of rum heat that graces the finish.
A delightful, fascinating pale garnet red wine made with 100% Poulsard grapes from minimum 35-year-old vines. Meaty, rhubarb, cherry and slight vegetal notes on the nose. Light, fine tannins, soft texture and a very minerally finish. Its meaty character will develop over the next 10 years.
Pale yellow. Shy nose, minerally with buttery notes. Soft on the palate, round mouthfeel, well balanced. Simple fruity taste and ready to drink so don't wait.
