Made from 100% Vespaiola, this sweet dessert wine displays honey, poached pears, apricots, roasted nuts, cinnamon and notes of fresh topical fruits. It's not overpoweringly sweet on the palate, more like wild honey integrated into the ripe fruits that are weighty and thick on the palate. Such wonderful sweet nutmeg/caramel spices. Pair with fruit tarts and creamy cheeses.
The quintessential Alsace Gewürz: neon yellow in colour with an intense and characteristic spicy nose of lychee and rose petals; full-bodied on the palate, dry with honeyed lychee and rosewater flavours that linger on the palate for an unconscionable time.
This Primitivo (aka, Zinfandel) features lots raisins, plum, raspberry, black tea, cola, cocoa, purple flowers and dried earth. Full-bodied, there is a long finish and present tannins. BBQ all the way.
Colour of a brass doorknob. Medium-intensity nose of lychee and peaches. Medium bodied, tasting of more peaches and orange. Slightly sweet, but a pinch of acidity lightens the texture. Drink now.
This is a beautiful Cab Franc from the near-perfect 2012 vintage in Ontario with a rich nose of raspberry, cherry, cassis, currants, integrated herbs and spice. It is defined by its smooth and lush entry in the mouth as the rich array of fruits wash over the palate with perfectly integrated spices following behind.
Syrah/Grenache blend from the extreme south end of the Rhône. Medium-deep pinkish red. Typical candy-apple nose from the Grenache, coupled with spice and pepper from the Syrah. Light-bodied and simple, strawberry flavours, immediately appealing and easy-drinking.
Keenly focused, from a select block high above Okanagan Lake, a bright profile showing freshness and upfront floral, citrus mineral notes announce the intensity of this wine, including ‘second pick’ fruit that benefits from extra hang time. Partial French oak wild ferment delivers extra body and texture to its vibrant citrus and mineral flavours, buoyed by focused acidity and excellent length. An excellent example of superior BC Riesling — and a steal.
