Purplish. Blackberries, soft spices and a menthol-like touch. Fresh attack, intense fruity taste, silky texture, except in the finish, where the tannins show a fine grainy edge. Overall, seductive and ready to drink.
Fruit sourced from Black Sage Terrace vineyards of sandy loam over granite, sand and gravel within close proximity. A blend of Grenache (35%), Syrah (33%), Mourvedre (32%), open top fermented, aged 14 months in neutral French oak. Inviting red and black wild berry fruits lead to a complex and layered palate of raspberry, damson and blackberry notes wrapped in well integrated, approachable tannins, with good structure and juicy mouthfeel through a lengthy end with a distinctly mineral streak.
Even though 2011 was not an easy year for red wine production, Rosewood has done an excellent job capturing the elegance of the vintage. A combination of black cherry, plum, earth, cola, cinnamon and smoke flatters the senses. Tannins are suave, and there is terrific length. Drink over the next 3 years.
Lively fresh grapefruit and apple scents give way to lemon citrus and tropical fruit on the palate. Gentle fruity notes and crisp acidity produce a refreshingly light finish.
Scents of dark berry, cinnamon, clove, chocolate and a touch of herb give way to predominantly blackcurrant flavour with dark chocolate and a firmly dry, medium length finish. Well-made, consistently reliable value.
Rich and full-bodied with aromas and flavours of baked apple, spice and vanilla, complex and layered with a creamy texture, firm with present, but integrated oak, mineral, bright acidity and a long finish. Structured enough for a veal chop, but fresh enough for salmon with a beurre blanc.
Infused with flavours of the increasingly fashionable Haskap berry, this original spirit reveals scents of juniper and red berry fruit with flavour more reminiscent of blackcurrant in the mouth. There is a touch of berry sweetness and texture akin to gritty pomace, with warming, agreeably fiery spirit on the finish.
