Dark ruby. Pleasant nose, fruity with a bit of sweet oak. No sweetness in the mouth though; balanced acidity, the slightly dry tannins are well wrapped in fruity extract. A very decent glass of unsophisticated red from down under.
Complex and refined nose presents fine fruity, spicy and toasted oak aromas together with an intriguing whiff of ginger. Big, generously flavoured and creamy in the mouth, showing lightly fruity, nutty and even buttery character, finishing with a touch of fiery spirit and lingering elegant, oaky dryness.
Huge lime, mineral, orange peel and honey on the nose. It is mineral-driven and dry on the palate with a floral element lingering on the finish.
A very useful Chablis substitute. Pale straw in colour with a minerally, lemony bouquet; medium-bodied, dry and fresh with lively apple and lemon flavours.
Lovely fresh aromas of apple, honey and peach with a mouth-filling texture, loads of fruit and hints of almond and white pepper character and a citrusy acidity. A wonderful Pinot Grigio and great match with poultry, pork and shellfish.
A blend of 95% Sangiovese and the rest Colorino. An inviting nose of plums, maraschino cherry, bramble and toasted wood spice. It has a balanced attack on the palate with an amalgamation of fruit, spice, tannin, structure and wonderful finesse on the finish.
It is my belief that this is the best Syrah being made in Ontario. Unlike many other renditions, which tend be over-extracted and manipulated so as to appear more Shiraz-like, this wine embraces its Ontario origins. Full-bodied, it busts out the pepper, smoke, hickory, violets, cassis, oregano and raspberry. The tannins are smooth, and the flavours echo long.
