Oaky, but not over the top, as the aromas of vanilla, hazelnut and spice mesh with green apple, Bosc pear and white peach. Medium-plus body; there is excellent length with a creamy/acidic interplay making for a delicious pairing with lobster and drawn butter.
A blend of 60% Merlot, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Cabernet Sauvignon all from the estate’s Sundial Vineyard on the Black Sage Bench. A beautiful nose of black cherries, cassis, currants, barrel spices, earth and cedar. On the palate this red blend displays a rich broth of bold dark fruits, kirsch, earth, firm tannins and enticing spice notes.
80% Sangiovese plus 20% Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot. Deep garnet colour. Spicy, dark fruit on the nose. Savoury flavours of tobacco, cedar and red berries. The medium-plus body displays richness and velvety-yet-rustic tannins. Long mineral finish. Serve with grilled meats and vegetables.
A powerful nose of red cherry, strawberry, dark plum, rose, herbs and black pepper. There is a light oaking that comes through on the palate in the form of cocoa and vanilla. Supple tannins, fresh acid and a juicy finale make for a beautiful partner with seared duck breast or a chorizo and seafood paella.
Made in Burgundian style but unmistakably Niagara, this flavourful Chardonnay is straw coloured with a green tint. The nose is apple with oak spice and touch of the forest floor. Medium-bodied and dry, you will experience flavours of apple and pineapple with well-integrated oak and balancing acidity.
Clear pale garnet. Medium-intensity nose of earth, violets and raspberry. On the palate there are mushroom and strawberry flavours. Made for beef bourguignon with porcini mushrooms. Drink now.
From a stony, west-facing slope on Naramata Bench, once an ancient lakeshore. Lifted red berries, strawberry and cherry notes with earthy hints precede a structured and well-balanced palate of pure fruit with a touch of spice, wrapped in mouth-watering, juicy acidity, with well-integrated, approachable tannins from judicious new and used oak, through a lengthy finish. Emblematic of not just this winery’s capabilities but a sure sign of the variety’s blossoming as a BC mainstay.
