From the original home vineyard, now certified organic, this fruit-forward, all concrete-aged Gris delivers tropical and orchard fruits up-front before a well-structured and broadly textured palate with generous mouthfeel but still lively acidity throughout the close.
Made with floor malted barley and Liberty hops, this blond beer opens with light nutty, malty and yeasty aromas and full-flavoured citrus and malt on the palate. Finishes with characteristic West Coast style heavily hopped bitterness.
Ruby purplish. Delicately fruity nose of ripe black berries. Bright fruit on the palate, soft texture, clean taste, spherical mouthfeel. The intense finish is warm but there is no burning sensation. Delicious to drink right now.
“Old-school” style rules with this wine. Remarkable woody, earthy, smoky scents, with whiffs of balsamic. Very rustic on the palate, featuring hickory-wood flavours, powerful tannins, and candied cherry notes. Manly cigar-box finish. Fire up the smoker, then strike up the conversation.
A wine that will appeal to those who loves soft and succulent reds. Bramble fruit, spice, raisins, black tea and tobacco are layered on soft tannins. There is a slight sweetness, but this is Zin, so not a problem at all. Great length and ready to drink.
Reif’s been growing a tiny parcel of Chenin uninterrupted for 15 years. The pretty and expressive nose shows apple, pear, citrus and lovely floral notes. It has gorgeous texture and verve on the palate, a feat in itself considering the heat of the vintage, with a range of honeydew melon, apple, herbs, a squirt of lemon and mineral notes in a dry, refreshing style.
Pondview’s first Pinot Noir succeeds in capturing plum, sweet cherry, earth, vanilla and cocoa aromas and flavours. With a natural alcohol of 14.5%, there is very good length, lifted acid and supple tannins. Accessible right now. Pair with mushroom risotto topped with duck breast.
