Clear reddish vermilion with plenty of bubbles. Faint stonefruit, orange and sourdough bread nose. Very fizzy and light-bodied on the palate; tastes of peaches and melons with a long tangy finish. Lovely for brunch with a croissant. Drink immediately.
Nebbiolo is known not to travel well outside of its native region Piemonte. This is definitely not the case here. This wine displays the classic haunting aromas of juicy cherries, rose petal, orange zest and tar. Full body with firm tannins and a moderate finish. A delicious drink with pulled pork.
Ruby-purplish. Nero d’Avola is a grape found in South Italy that often produces very nice wines. Blended with 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, this expression shows a nice fruity nose with an animal touch that retains a good freshness. Tannins are finely grained; it is full-bodied but has a nice finesse to it. Drink now.
From the Martinborough region located on NZ’s North Island comes this expressive single-vineyard Sauvignon Blanc which was organically farmed. I have been following this domaine for over a decade and once again, this cuvée is a stunner. Full body with a complex palate made of sun-ripe aromas of blackberries and dark plum balanced by savory dried herbs and earthy notes. The ripe yet firm tannins give good structure to the generosity of fruit. Lamb tagine is calling.
