Medium-deep garnet, with sediment. Nose of raisins and stewed plums and apricots. A little hot with alcohol at 19.5%, but otherwise well balanced. Fruit, including cherries, dates and strawberry jam, is still fresh-tasting. Very like a vintage port, only affordable. Ready to drink but will cellar well for a few more years.
Here’s a wine that punches above its weight in terms of its quality for the price. This rosé is flesh pink in colour with a peach and citrus nose tinged with a mineral note. It's easy-drinking, fruity and refreshing on the palate.
Lovely, fresh and juicy with dark purple colour, rich aromas of crushed cherry, blackberry and violets; full and round with velvety tannins and a long, fresh finish.
FA’s take on a Ripasso wine features cassis, plum, raspberry, tobacco, graphite, cocoa and vanilla. Medium plus body with lots of fine tannins and very good length. Drink over the next 5 years. A blend of Cabernet Franc (62%), Cabernet Sauvignon (25%) and Merlot (13%).
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and a bit of Carignan, it shows a clear, very deep garnet. Interesting nose of plums, Cherry Heering, a definite splash of maple syrup, and prominent oak scents. Not a subtle wine, it is warm with alcohol and its acidity and tannins are both still firm, but the sour cherry and cranberry fruit is probably peaking now, so drink soon.
Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Carménère. Co-production with Antinori. Simply one of the best red wines to come out of Chile. Dense ruby-purple in colour with a nose of tobacco, cedar, toast and creamy blackcurrant with dark chocolate notes. Full-bodied with a rich mouthfeel and balancing acidity. Very youthful. Comes on like a First Growth Bordeaux.
40-year-old estate vines bring out an expressive nose, palate and finish. Honeysuckle aroma grabs attention. Passion fruit flavour suggests complexity. White grapefruit and mineral linger on and on. Each sip adds savoury nuances. A palate-cleansing match for a caramelized onion tart.
