Medium-deep cranberry red. Vigorous but ethereal nose of violets, raspberry and a touch of oak and menthol. Medium body, tasting of raspberry jam with high acidity and tannins that are still a little rough. Drink to 2021.
Now selling for a few dollars less than in the past, this is affordable, everyday bubbly. It leans a little to tropical-fruit ripeness, but is otherwise pretty stylish with good weight, persistent mousse and appealing creamy smoothness.
For the number lovers, this is a blend of 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. For the wine lovers, this is a full-bodied red with a complex bouquet of sweet vanilla, cassis, violets, raspberry, cocoa and mint. Length is fabulous with tannic structure to ensure a decade of aging.
This wine is a selection of the best barrels from the Red Paw and Black Paw vineyards. A beautiful Pinot nose of cherry, plum and black raspberry melds with barrel nuances of vanilla, cocoa and spice. There is medium density, supple tannins, very good length and fresh acid rounding out the experience. Drink until 2017.
Dominant Syrah (85%), judicious Mourvedre (12%) and a splash of Grenache (3%). Complex violets, blackberry and charcuterie aromas. Concentrated blueberry, black plum and sage flavours. Juicy acidity balance taut tannins. Smoked bacon lingers on the peppery finish. Pairs well with lamb tangine.
Made from 100% Merlot, showing just a very pale, rose-coloured hue, with fragrant floral and red-berry character with strawberry with secondary cherry flavours in the mouth, this one offers easy-drinking charm.
Aged in a combination of American and Spanish sherry casks, the nose here is more mellow than the 12, with a subtle interplay of citrus, cinnamon spice, honeyed floral and fine malty notes. Richly powerful expression in the mouth conveys sweet dried fruit with a trace of vanilla. Very complex finish shows lightly smoky dry oak with a lingering spicy/floral counterpoint.
