Sourced from 50-year-old vines, this is a deeply concentrated unfiltered wine with plenty of red currant fruit, spice and rounded tannins. It is full-bodied, with weight and structure to pair with robust red meats and matured cheeses.
First tasted a year ago, this wine has mellowed slightly but without losing too much freshness. Opens with fresh citrus on the nose with the same theme carrying through on the medium weight palate. It is smoothly textured with good overall balance and a clean fresh finish. A well-made, straightforward wine.
Claudio Bisi makes wines with character and individuality. His Croatina (aka Bonarda) exhibits floral, herbal and blueberry notes while the palate is rich, complex and filled out by ripe, mouth-filling tannins. The rustic finish adds even more interest. Accompany with aged cheeses.
A fairly weighty wine with black cherry, subtle floral and savoury herb scents, rounded dark and red fruit in the mouth with a splash of dark chocolate, firm dry tannins and slightly aggressive acidity.
Pinot Noir (75%) from Hollenbach, Penticton and Gamay (25%) from St Hubertus, Kelowna Mission combine for a complex rosé that offers red fruit, strawberry and pronounced sage aromas. Followed by a juicy, distinctively vinous palate of cranberry and citrus wrapped in juicy, persistent acidity through a lengthy, dry finish. Think coho salmon.
Another very fine wine from Township 7’s reserve program. This 100% Merlot was aged for 24 months in a combination of French and American oak, 30% of the barrels new. It has a generous and concentrated nose of blackcurrants, cherry, cocoa, bramble and an array of lavish spice notes. It’s a highly stylized wine on the palate propped up by firm bed of tannic structure to go with meaty dark fruit, rich spice notes and plenty of length through the finish.
Clear, tawny gold. Fascinating, complex nose of peaches, bananas, guava, roses and a bit of Gewürz (spiciness). Dry, crisp and full-bodied, tasting of juicy tart apples, lemon, and a drop of rosewater. Respectably long finish. If you are looking for a white wine with your next roast turkey, this goes very well with a rich spicy stuffing.
