This friendly and well-priced Cabernet Sauvignon features cassis, blackberry, herbs/mint, spice, vanilla, black olive and violets. Full-bodied, it starts off fleshy, almost creamy, and then the tannins appear, turning the finale dry.
Clear medium-deep yellow. Medium-intensity nose of gooseberry with ginger, pineapple and papaya. Full-bodied for a Sancerre, soft mouthfeel but still crisp. Tastes of greenish kiwi, melon, Mandarin orange. One of the best Sancerres I have had, combines bright acidity with rich fruit. Drinking well now and for another year.
Concentrated raspberry, cherry, currants and lavish spices on the nose of this very different Spanish red. In the mouth look for full-on red fruit, blueberries, raspberry jam and spices with good tannic grip and length.
Do NOT open this wine now — you would be committing infanticide. Purple red, clear but so dense it is opaque. Nose of strawberries, light molasses, tea, tobacco and leather. Packed with cassis and blackberries, it is presently too tannic and unharmonious — the score is based on potential.
Intense yellow but slightly hazy. Clean nose of light fresh hops with notes of coriander and citrus. Smooth rich texture, light acidity and a nice round finish. Very refreshing.
This is a full-throttle Chardonnay from the Okanagan. Straw-coloured with a smoky, toasty nose of citrus with barnyard notes; full-bodied, dry and elegant with rich apple and green pineapple flavours supported by toasty oak.
Bright, old gold in colour with a spicy, vanilla, caramel and apple nose; light-bodied, creamy palate of honey, peaches and apple with a light effervescence. Well-balanced with refreshing acidity and good length.
