A blend of Chardonnay and Aligoté. Pale straw in colour with spicy nose of apple; medium-bodied, dry and crisp with crabapple and green pear flavours ending on lemony acidity. A versatile food wine.
Shows bright floral and tropical scents with a distinctive whiff of pine, shifting to ripe green tropical fruit backed by fresh acidity and an intriguing briny note on the finish.
Dense purple colour with a spicy blackberry nose; medium- to full-bodied, richly extracted blackberry and dark chocolate flavours laced with lively acidity and mellow tannins.
From the less-fashionable Blaye region. Deep ruby colour with a nose of blackcurrants and cedar; medium-bodied, soft mouthfeel but firmly structured. Dry and surprisingly elegant for the price.
A lovely nose of grapefruit, peach cobbler, apricot and mango. It’s clean and fresh on the palate with flavours of white peach and tropical fruit, and fairly balanced by the acidity. Good fruity sipper or serve with chicken kabobs.
The LCBO’s only general list Grüner is a fabulous value and a solid introduction to the varietal if you have yet to experience it. White peach, honey, green apple, lime, white pepper, mineral and celery notes. Refreshing, dry and very good length.
Moosehead’s small batch series allows the brewers at the iconic New Brunswick plant a little leeway to play. The key components here should be strawberry, rhubarb, and lactose. However, the acidity from the rhubarb is basic, and the strawberries and cream do not quite manage to pop. Bigger in all directions would be the suggestion for the next batch.
