Dense purple in colour, the nose is a cornucopia of blackcurrant, plum and cherry aromas. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the palate with cedary, black fruit flavours with notes of smoked meat and dark chocolate. This wine cries out for pepper steak.
Concentrated dark fruit on the nose highlights blackberry, blackcurrant and mulberry with a whiff of herb and a pinch of cinnamon. Rich, thickly textured in the mouth, showing blackberry and black plum with chewy tannins and stony mineral. A hearty, full-bodied Cab calling for robust, grilled red meat.
Fragrant cinnamon-spiced cherry bouquet with a light leafy overtone; succulent red-cherry and strawberry flavours backed by enlivening acidity, lightly firm tannins and a splash of milk chocolate on the finish.
Loads of rich black cherry, plum and blackberry with big, velvety tannins, spice, a touch of mocha; very stylish and bold, but very approachable and elegant with a very long finish. 80% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot and 20% Sagrantino — the cuttings of which came from Arnaldo Caprai.
Brilliant mouth-watering blend of Trebbiano, Pecorino and Passerina with lovely stone fruit and zesty citrus, nice creaminess in the mid-palate with a saliva-generating chalky, salty, minerally finish. Amazing with grilled prawns and summer salads, but also great on its own on the patio. Over delivers on its price-quality ratio.
Clear deep garnet. Medium nose of red berries, rhubarb and smoky oak seasoned with a bit of black pepper and also a hint of barnyard. On the palate the blueberry and cherry fruit are so rich it would taste sweet but for the nicely balancing acidity. A decent everyday Aussie Shiraz at a good price. Ready to drink now.
When I was first presented this wine, I wanted to write it off immediately since new barrels and Riesling are generally two concepts that don’t work together. Well, I was wrong. This edition is a wild ride consisting of toast, spice, flowers, honeyed peaches and cream. There is very good length with some noticeable residual. Indeed, this is an individual wine.
